Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Glassell School of Art Benefit & Auction
More than 300 guests attended the annual benefit dinner and auction for the Glassell School. Supporters of the school arrived at the event and posed for pictures by a wrecking ball installed by the school, celebrating the last year that the benefit will be held in the current building. Inside, works by Joseph Havel, Mary Hawkins and Lester Marks were bid on by hopefuls who looked to outbid those who had already browsed items on the auction site, Paddle8.com. Also up for grabs were 78 works of art by students of the school. For the evening’s dinner spread, A Fare Extraordinaire dished out plates of boneless braised beef and zesty brick chicken on Bergner & Johnson’s decorated tables as Dallas’ DJ Lucy spun out dance hits through the night. The 2014 event raised a $425,000 for the school’s operating budget. Leslie and Brad Bucher, and William J. Hill were the Major Underwriters.
