Winners Announced in Little Black Dress Designer Student Fashion Design Competition
Winners of the 2014 Little Black Dress Designer student fashion design competition were unveiled Wednesday night, with the top Houston designers taking home a portion of $34,000 in scholarships.
The winning designs were showcased and announced during the 6th annual Little Black Dress Designer Fashion Show, which took place at House of Blues in downtown Houston.
The scholarship winners include:
1st Place: Gabby Ong (Houston Community College)
2nd Place: Claire Ferran (Houston Community College)
3rd Place: Natthakan Chomphuwiset (Houston Community College)
4th Place: Diana Perkins, Andrea Giralt-Brun and Judi Hallenbeck (Houston Community College)
5th Place: Phuong Thao Le (The Art Institute of Houston)
In addition to scholarships, the top 10 finalists from this year’s competition were awarded a summer-long apprenticeship with an industry mentor. During their apprenticeship, the students will work to re-make their designs at retail quality for local social icons referred to as “The Muses of LBDD.” The final designs will be unveiled this fall.
The 6th annual Little Black Dress Designer Fashion Show was sponsored by Audi Central Houston and honored Houston philanthropist Julia Anderson Frankel.
