So, whether you’re looking for a great view, plentiful spirits of the distilled variety or the best meal of the week, here are some options at every price break.
Backstreet Cafe: Chef Hugo Ortega’s classic Backstreet Cafe offers a mouthwatering Saturday and Sunday brunch at a modest price (around $10 a plate) in an intimate, friendly setting.
Benjy’s: These two Washington and Rice Village hotspots feature locally sourced food, aged cocktails and great Joel Mazersky-designed retro cool patios. Look out for offerings like house-made biscuits and hamburger gravy and Crunchy French Toast.
Berryhill Baja Grill: If it’s punch you’re after, Berryhill is the place to be. They’ve now doing an extended brunch with 99 cent Frozen Screwdrivers and Mimosas and $3 Margaritas. A Sunday Funday, for sure!
Birraporetti’s: This downtown favorite offers a Sunday Jazz Brunch from 10.30 – 3pm complete with bottomless mimosas and bellinis. Guests can sample Italian dishes and delicious desserts.
Brennan’s: If elegance is what you crave on your Sundays, it’s gotta be Brennan’s. The food is outstanding, the courtyard is gorgeous and the atmosphere is top notch. And now you can even dine in style without breaking the bank, as they are offering the Texas Creole Brunch, three courses for just $32.
Brenner’s on the Bayou: This place features a secluded, serene setting so surreal you will think you’ve left the city, and the food ain’t bad either.
Caffe Bello: For great Italian in Midtown in a building you can actually find parking in, head to Caffe Bello. hey feature offerings in pairings of three, like Roasted Beet Carpaccio, Fried Chicken and Pecan Waffles and Chocolate OMG! Cake, all for around $20.
Ciao Bello: Vallone’s more casual eatery has a great Sunday brunch featuring the likes of Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Fried Chicken and Waffles and Eggs Benedict. Their gorgeous Garden Room adds to the experience.
Danton’s Gulf Coast Seafood: It can’t get much more rockin’ than live music and spicy creole fare, which is exactly what Danton’s Sunday Blues Brunch has to offer. Nestled in the heart of Montrose, you can sit in their spacious dining room or bar listen to the likes of local blues legends Milton Hopkins and Texas Johnny Brown – all while enjoying top notch seafood and your favorite Sunday cocktail. While you’re their, check out their great old fashioned fishing photographs, lots of character.
Hugo’s: For a great Mexican brunch in the loop, try Montrose’s own Hugo’s. Their watermelon mimosas are to die for, and the fountain trimmed patio is the ultimate for a relaxing meal.
Ouisie’s Table: This beautiful brunch spot offers an elegant setting for any gathering, and their dainty but apt porch is perfect for nice weather. Be sure to try the Seafood Crepes and a Stack of Lucy’s Cornmeal Pancake – they’re so good they’ll change your religious affiliations!
Rainbow Lodge: The bayou and the outside deck certainly make this Houston standard a brunch destination. Enjoy their classic American fare with 99 cent mimosas til 3pm.
