Winter on the Waterfront

Join Buffalo Bayou Partnership in celebrating the holiday season along the waterway. Here is a sampling of what they offer for the Holidays.

More Time to See Time No Longer

Anri Sala’s Time No Longer in the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern has been extended through January 17, 2022! This spacious, multisensory art installation is an ode to music, space travel, and Houston’s history. Woodwind instruments play as you walk the 360-degree perimeter of the Cistern viewing a massive holographic screen, transporting you to another space and time. Don’t miss your chance to view Time No Longer here in Houston.

Special Performance by André Vida

This weekend, musician André Vida, co-composer and performer of the original score for Time No Longer, will appear live for two days only. Vida will play a custom-made “Cistern-o-phone,” a woodwind instrument designed especially for the Cistern. His performance will activate Sala’s installation, creating an entirely new acoustic experience within the cavernous reservoir. Space is limited for this special performance, so reserve your viewing time now.

Up on the Rooftop: A Holiday Party

Tonight, get your ticket online and go  Up on the Rooftop and start your holiday season jingling and mingling at the Sunset Coffee Building rooftop! Nibble on bites from Bludorn and Tiff’s Treats, sip libations from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Frankly Vodka, and Rebecca Creek Whiskey, take a Christmas Cruise led by Santa and Mrs. Claus on BBP’s decorated pontoon boat, all while getting the best views of downtown.

Cruise the Bayou This Christmas

Your annual boat ride with Santa and Mrs. Claus is back! Buffalo Bayou Partnership  has decked the hull for 45-minute pontoon boat rides along the waterway. Take in festive décor and boat lighting, treats, and unique views of Houston’s iconic skyline. Reservations are required, so reserve your seat on the boat.

Unsilent Night

Redefine art-in-motion by participating in Unsilent Night, an interactive holiday event at Buffalo Bayou Park. Unsilent Night is a mobile sound sculpture created when many individuals simultaneously play one of four tracks by composer Phil Kline. The cacophonic musical procession along Buffalo Bayou’s hike and bike trails begins at 7 pm. Before making music, join us for an informal reception at 6 pm to sip hot chocolate and beer from Saint Arnold Brewing Company (for guests 21+), taste treats, make kid crafts, and get a special visit from Santa. Food and drinks can be purchased at food trucks. The event is free, but we ask that you kindly RSVP.
