Photo by Alex MontoyaA new, business-minded young professionals group –Parkway Young Professionals– enjoyed a rousing start with a kickoff event that drew a diverse crowd from an array of industries to Upper Kirby’sChristopher Martin Galleryfor cocktails, conversation and a goodie bag packed with perks.DJ Men-Yo kept the beats bumping well after the prescribed end time, while the group of 125 mixed and mingled over bites from Postino and Gentle Ben cocktails. After an overview from one of the founding members and a raffle draw, guests enjoyed a gallery presentation centered on young patrons and the 101’s of beginning to buy art. That was followed by an introduction to the evening’s beneficiary, The Alta Arts, a two-ear-old, Bellaire area interdisciplinary art center that provides variegated and dynamic opportunities for artists, performers, students and more.It is the first of many gatherings planned for Parkway Young Professionals, whose mission is to build community and friendships through a platform that includes networking events, wellness activations, educational offerings and volunteer opportunities.
