The 19th “Evening For Rice’s Honour” celebrating Rice’s continuing success in intercollegiate athletics was held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in the ballroom of River Oaks Country Club, with over 370 people in attendance, raising over $400,000 that evening.

The biennial event began in 1984, but was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19.  It returns as Rice Athletics prepares for entrance into the American Athletic Conference and is in the midst of its $100 million capital campaign.  The evening’s highlight will be the presentation of the Distinguished Owl Club Award to six individuals for their outstanding support and leadership of Rice Athletics: Thomas O. Clanton, MD; Julie Griswold, Jen Rigg Kneale; Mark Thomas Scully, Christopher Allen Shoppa and Robert L. Waltrip.

Since the first biennial event, founded in 1984, over $6 Million has been raised for scholarships and other athletic endeavors from this event. Historically, it is one of the oldest continual black tie events held on the Rice campus.
