After guests had the opportunity to peruse over 187 silent auction packages, the event kicked off with a warm welcome from event chairs Logan Lester and Helen Winchell. After opening remarks, attendees enjoyed a fashion show presented by Alchemia and Modern Marla, showcasing the hottest looks for the upcoming season. The fashion show was accompanied by a delectable brunch courtesy of A Fare Extraordinaire.The event continued with orations by guest speakers Jennifer Sebasigari, founder of the Sebas Foundation, and Christina Cloutier, whose son was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT) – a rare form of brain cancer. Special recognition was given to the guest of honor, Donna Lemoine, who has been a longtime supporter of Sky High for Kids and the organization’s mission, and the Cancer Warrior Families of Berra, who sold Berra’s bracelets, and Payton, who walked in the Alchemia and Modern Marla fashion show.A live auction concluded the Houston Ladies Who Brunch, where guests were able to bid on 9 live auction packages ranging from a two-night stay in Nassau to sponsoring a family vacation for one of Sky High’s Cancer Warriors, Cooper, and his family.Overall, the record-setting event raised over $800,000 that will go toward Sky High for Kids’ current pledges to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital.The event title sponsors were Insight Global Health, Kodiak Gas Services, LLC, FUELTRAX, Jones Roofing, BCRN Aesthetics, and Texas Children’s Hospital.“Serving as the Ladies Who Brunch 2022 Co-chair has meant the world to me,” said Logan Lester Tafelski. “The Ladies Who Brunch committee is built out of the most passionate and hardworking young professional women. We are the new generation of fundraising for important causes, and I am honored to be in a leadership position on the forefront of this turn in Houston. We have big goals and plans for 2023 – this is only the beginning!”“Sky High’s mission to fight pediatric cancer became my personal mission the morning after 2017 Ladies Who Brunch when I got the call that my little brother had brain cancer,” said Helen Winchell. “Co-chairing this event for my 3rd and final year has been nothing short of humbling and inspiring. The women behind this event committee are truly unstoppable.”Sky High for Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Louisiana native, Brittany Hebert Franklin. Comprised of a devoted staff, board members, and an army of volunteers, the organization is devoted to supporting children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening conditions.
