“Making a Scene!” is the story of how the international photography scene was created in Houston, Texas. Karner documents the history of three primary organizations: the Photography Department at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Houston Center for Photography, and Fotofest, and introduces the reader to the backgrounds of the key individuals that made Houston the place to be for photography.
The book is filled with personal stories and quotes. One of the most exciting chapters tells a true story of how the first international photography festival was put together by Fred Baldwin, who sadly passed away a year ago at the age of 92.
