The Salvation Army of Greater Houston just hosted their sold-out 2023 Love Beyond Hoops Annual Luncheon, and it was an afternoon to remember! The event raised over $725,000. Dorothy Nicholson served as Luncheon Chair, Joe and Cathy Cleary were the Honorees, and Michael Redd was the Keynote Speaker. “We are so pleased that Michael agreed to be our keynote speaker for our luncheon,” said Vicki West, Chairman of the Advisory Board for The Salvation Army of Greater Houston. “Not only has Michael achieved great success in sports and business, but, more importantly, he has been a staunch supporter of countless charities, especially The Salvation Army.”
Michael captivated the audience with his inspirational message from hardwood to the boardroom, his personal and professional story of a champion. A leader for the Ohio State Buckeyes on their journey to the Final Four in 1999, an All-Star in his 12-year career in the NBA, and a member of the Olympic Gold Medal Team in 2008, Michael is a successful and remarkable athlete. Since retiring from the NBA in 2013, Michael has embarked on a journey of building, developing, and investing in tech-focused startups. He founded his own rm 22 Ventures and hosts a podcast, Betting on Yourself, exploring stories of successful entrepreneurs and athletes taking risks to reach their goals. He currently serves on The Salvation Army National Advisory Board and has signed on to be a champion leader for The Salvation Army’s “Love Beyond Hoops” national campaign.
This event not only allows the Houston community to come together to hear stories of lives transformed, but it will also raise funds to support The Salvation Army of Greater Houston’s life-changing programs.
