Red Cross Continues to Help Those Affected by Hurricane Beryl
The American Red Cross continues to help the hundreds of people that were affected by hurricane Beryl return to their homes and get back on their feet. Red Cross disaster workers are helping people plan their next steps while continuing to provide emergency supplies such as food, water and other critical support. Every disaster is different, and so are the needs of each affected community. That is why the Red Cross works closely with local partners to create plans and coordinate recovery services to ensure people get the help they need.
More than 700 Red Crossers have supported these relief efforts. With our partners, we have provided more than 86,000 hot meals, more than 275,000 shelf stable meals and over 65,000 relief items like cleaning supplies and comfort kits.
Trained volunteers are providing mental health and spiritual support to families who have suffered loss. This includes help coping with new challenges, managing medical conditions, caring for wounds or injuries, and replacing prescription medications or other critical medical equipment like canes and wheelchairs.
“People’s lives were turned upside down by this massive storm,” said Shawn Schulze, Chief Executive Officer, Texas Gulf Coast Region, American Red Cross. “They need your help now. Please consider making a donation to help people affected by disasters or become a Red Cross volunteer today.”
