Restaurant Weeks 2024 Week One

Intown Staff Gets it started with a few recommendations

As the dog days of summer set in, it is time to get out and enjoy some of Houston’s restaurants’ lunch and dinner specials. Participating restaurants compete for your dollars and donate a percentage to feed the underprivileged. All this great dining is for a cause, and the Houston Food Bank is the beneficiary.

Houston’s most anticipated foodie event is underway and ends September 2nd, 2024. That’s 35 days of delicious meals and super deals raising necessary funds for the Houston Food Bank. During the monthlong event, there seem to be more alternatives than recently. An extensive list of popular restaurants serves specially priced, multi-course prix fixe menus for brunch ($25), lunch ($25), or dinner ($39 or $55), available for dine-in and also take-out.

Some of Intown’s picks include some oldies and some newbies. Our picks take into account the ambiance as well as the dishes.

Houston Restaurant Weeks lunch menus may only be available Monday through Friday. Dates and times for HRW brunch service will vary by restaurant. Please check with the restaurant about HRW brunch and lunch service on weekends.

Coltivare

Still one of Houston’s coolest places, this Heights Italian eatery provides a unique perspective with its on-site garden. Coltivare is as excellent for a date night or a casual night out with friends.

As you might expect, the first course of their salads will be a standout with cauliflower, a ricotta Dip, chicories salad ot grilled portobello mushroom. Good luck deciding. Chicken, pasta pizza and a pan-roasted trout which rounds out the main course. For dessert we recommend the caramel panna cotta

Eugene’s

Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine

This one gets in on many fronts. There is a huge dining room and exquisite private party rooms.

Start with a favorite BOILED SHRIMP 6 Large boiled Gulf Shrimp, a GULF COAST SEAFOOD GUMBO, aWEDGE SALAD or a POBLANO SOUP Cup of Roasted Poblano peppers, jumbo lump crab, Monterey Jack & Cheddar cheeses and tortilla strips.

For the main course, choose 7-OZ SALMON BIANCA (GF) Salmon Filet rubbed with Rosemary & Thyme then grilled over Oak and Hickory, SHRIMP OR OYSTER, KYLE or CRAB MADISON, which is a baked delight of jumbo lump crabmeat and green onion sautéed in garlic butter and seasonings topped with parmesan cheese.

Also, they have a PASTA JARDIN (V) (VG) Fettuccini or Angel Hair Pasta Topped with Alfredo or Marinara Sauce & Grilled Veggies. Served w/ Garlic Parmesan Toast. or FRIED SHRIMP OR OYSTER PLATTER to round out the selections.

For dessert it is WHITE CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING with Toasted French Bread, our favorite the KEY LIME PIE with light custard in a slightly tart Lime flavor made and served on our Famous Graham Cracker Crust. And of course, finally, one to take home or eat in a CREME BRULEE

The outdoor patio is also a good choice for dining.
