Restaurant Weeks 2024 Week Two

Intown Staff Brings Our Next Round of Recommendations

As the dog days of summer set in, it is time to get out and enjoy some of Houston’s restaurants’ lunch and dinner specials. Participating restaurants compete for your dollars and donate a percentage to feed the underprivileged. All this great dining is for a cause, and the Houston Food Bank is the beneficiary.

Houston’s most anticipated foodie event is underway and ends September 2nd, 2024. That’s 35 days of delicious meals and super deals raising necessary funds for the Houston Food Bank. During the monthlong event, there seem to be more alternatives than recently. An extensive list of popular restaurants serves specially priced, multi-course prix fixe menus for brunch ($25), lunch ($25), or dinner ($39 or $55), available for dine-in and also take-out.

Some of Intown’s picks include some oldies and some newbies. Our picks take into account the ambiance as well as the dishes.

Houston Restaurant Weeks lunch menus may only be available Monday through Friday. Dates and times for HRW brunch service will vary by restaurant. Please check with the restaurant about HRW brunch and lunch service on weekends.

Staying with the Olympic and French theme, we recommend an Intown French-inspired hotspot known for its people-watching, caviar, and champagne. We, however are recommending this on our dinner choices on our dinner picks for week two of Restaurant Weeks. Owner Charles Clark is the leader of the band, with backup from GM Erica Culp and Chef Michael Hoffman, who is offering a simple but elegant twist to their HRW dinner selection.

It starts with its staple a FRENCH ONION SOUP with a caramelized onion, beef consommé, baguette, and melted gruyere. Other starter choices are DEVILED EGGS of course, with caviar, a SUMMER SALAD, and finally, HAM AND CHEESE CROQUETTES which we recommend along with the soup.

The main course selections include a PETITE STRIP LOIN with roasted carrot, trout almondine, Housemade sausage, roasted pork belly braised lentils, and sauerkraut yum. Finally, there is a VEGETABLE GNOCCHI with artichoke, cipollini onion, and sage pistou.

Round out the meal with an amazing NUTELLA BROWNIE with a whipped mascarpone and fresh berries. There is also a LEMON POUND CAKE with whipped crème fraîche and a rosé ginger berry sauce. To make decisions tough at the end, there is a CRÈME BRÛLÉE with caramelized sugar crust, fresh berries
