On view September 7 – October 5, 2024
Artist Panel & Closing Reception: Saturday, October 5th, 2-4pm
Opening September 7, 2024, Foltz Fine Art will present Texas Emerging: Volume V, the fifth iteration of an annual exhibition featuring emerging visual artists across disciplines from the state of Texas, co-curated by artist, Jonathan Paul Jackson.
In Volume V, Foltz Fine Art is proud to showcase five exceptional artists, all living and working in Houston. Though the artists all share Houston as a home base, their art practices are varied: from the assemblages of Layla Bispo (sculpture/mixed media), to the quilted paintings of Chris Cascio (painting/fiber art/mixed media) the collage-based work of Louise Pennebaker (mixed media/collage), the gestural abstractions of Benji Stiles (interdisciplinary artist), and the geological paintings of Terry Suprean (painting/mixed media), Volume V will serve as an introduction to each artist, while also being an exciting group exhibition.
Texas Emerging: Volume V will be on view at Foltz Fine Art starting on September 7th, with opportunities to meet the artists during the opening reception as well as the artist panel discussion on the afternoon of October 5th.
About the Texas Emerging Exhibition Series: Texas Emerging is an ongoing series of group exhibitions, featuring emerging visual artist of all disciplines from the state of Texas, organized by Foltz Fine Art and co-curated by artist Jonathan Paul Jackson. The first Volume of Texas Emerging came on the heels of the global Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. With the ability to plan exhibitions in advance a near impossible task, gallery owner Sarah Foltz and artist Jonathan Paul Jackson realized they had the space to dream up a new kind of exhibition for Foltz Fine Art.
The intent of the show was two-fold: Texas Emerging allowed Foltz the opportunity to support the continuation of Texas art history by working with contemporary, Texas based artists while simultaneously uplifting the local artist community that had been struggling for opportunities during the pandemic. With the pace of life back to normal, the Texas Emerging Exhibition Series has continued into the present day, with the goal of bringing together the most exciting, emerging artists working within the state.
