The Houston Golf Association (HGA), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, The First Tee of Greater Houston,  honored nine individuals, including the late Robert C. McNair while raising over $200,000 at its Nine Core Values Luncheon at River Oaks Country Club.

Originally founded in 1997, The First Tee’s mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Last year.


“The HGA and The First Tee are pleased to recognize individuals who lived their lives according to the program’s Nine Core Values,” said Steve Timms, CEO of Houston Golf Association and The First Tee of Greater Houston. “Bob McNair was one of the most respected and generous philanthropists and businessmen in our time. He was known for doing the right thing, helping others and showing respect for all. We are proud to honor his legacy.”

About the Houston Golf Association: Founded in 1946,  the HGA has existed to make a difference in Houston communities and in the lives of area youth through golf and charity. HGA began offering its junior golf program to Houston in 1957.  For more information visit hga.org.
