A new, business-minded young professionals group – Parkway Young Professionals – enjoyed a rousing start with a kickoff event that drew a diverse crowd from an array of industries to Upper Kirby’s Christopher Martin Gallery for cocktails, conversation and a goodie bag packed with perks.
DJ Men-Yo kept the beats bumping well after the prescribed end time, while the group of 125 mixed and mingled over bites from Postino and Gentle Ben cocktails. After an overview from one of the founding members and a raffle draw, guests enjoyed a gallery presentation centered on young patrons and the 101’s of beginning to buy art. That was followed by an introduction to the evening’s beneficiary, The Alta Arts, a two-ear-old, Bellaire area interdisciplinary art center that provides variegated and dynamic opportunities for artists, performers, students and more. It is the first of many gatherings planned for Parkway Young Professionals, whose mission is to build community and friendships through a platform that includes networking events, wellness activations, educational offerings and volunteer opportunities. And while launched with the support of Parkway, which operates four landmark office campuses in Houston including Greenway Plaza, Uptown’s Post Oak Central, CityWestPlace in Westchase and San Felipe Plaza in Tanglewood, the group is open to all young professionals ages 35 and under, as well as individuals with less than 10 years of work experience. And about that goodie bag… Guest left with special Parkway Young Professional treats and offers from businesses and retailers including Crumbl Cookies, Village Dermatology, Lemon Laine, The Finger Companies, 8th Wonder, AOC Collective, Loft 18, Mister Car Wash and Switch2Pure.
